Coal Justice: First Claims Lodged

On 31 May 2024 IWUA lodged the first underpayment claims with the Fair Work
Ombudsman. The FWO has allocated a senior case manager to work with IWUA on
processing the claims.

Coal miner Years assessed Underpayment assessed:

Hunter NSW 2013 to 2018 $121,291
Qld 1 2013 to 2021 $104,473
Qld 2 2015 to 2022 $ 99,999

The FWO was questioned in Senate Estimates on 4 June 2024 on these underpayments.
