IWUA Case Win #1341: $19,000 WIN - Unfair Dismissal Settlement

IWUA-2

Being asked to show cause is a stressful experience for any employee.
It's even more difficult when you feel unsupported and unsure of what to do next.
That's where the IWUA comes in - we provide crucial assistance and support to our members in times of need.

One member faced a particularly difficult situation when they received a notice to show cause. They reached out to IWUA for support, they were assigned a case manager who provided them with much-needed support and guidance during this difficult time.

Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the show-cause meeting ended in termination of their employment. However, there was a silver lining, the case manager recognised that there were extenuating circumstances surrounding the termination, and they advised the member to lodge an unfair dismissal claim.

They helped the member to prepare the claim and to navigate the legal process, and in the conciliation meeting where the matter was successfully settled with $19,000 in compensation.

The case manager's expertise and support were invaluable in helping our member through this difficult time. They were grateful to have the IWUA in their corner, providing them with the assistance and guidance they needed to navigate this challenging experience.

This case highlights the importance of having IWUA to support you with workplace issues.

In times of stress and uncertainty, it can make all the difference to have an experienced and knowledgeable advocate by your side.

Why is the IWUA different? We believe that real change in workforce STARTS with empowering workers, not bureaucrats.
